Sharif University students third in US aviation competitions

American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) is the leading aerospace organization and the largest aeronautical and astronaut-based association formed in 1963 from the merger of the American Missile Society (founded in 1930) and the American Aerospace Society (founded in 1933).

The institute currently has more than 30,000 members in 88 countries, 95 corporate members, and many student and university colleges in the United States and around the world.

AIAA in order to encourage students to experience the real and industrial space, annually conduct design competitions in undergraduate and graduate levels on a variety of topics, individually and collectively and every year the students from the universities of DELFT, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, University of Kansas and Toronto take part in competitions.

This year, two teams from the Sharif University of Technology Aerospace Engineering Faculty, Sharif Aircraft Design Experts (ShadX) and Hyfind participated in the aircraft design competition with the subjects of 'Advanced Aircraft Jet Design' in the graduate category and the 'Design of the General Electric Hybrid Aircraft' in the undergraduate category and after eight months of uninterrupted effort, for the third time in the history of the Aerospace Engineering Faculty, both teams succeeded in registering their design proposal which, in turn, is important in their 3-year participation in the competition.
