Expressing grief over loss of his Iranian colleagues, Raed Arafat sympathized with the Iranian nation and all the Iranian firefighters.
Fighting fire and putting life at risk during missions to save lives of the people requires courage, resolve and devotion which are owned by all firefighters, the message said.
“We are standing beside the Iranian nation at such moments and bow to the devotion of our colleagues and cordially express condolences,” he said.
Funeral procession of 16 firefighters, martyred in Plasco buidling fire and collapse, was held on Monday, January 30.
After prayers for their bodies in Imam Khomeini's Mosalla prayers ground, they were laid to rest in Behesht Zahra Cemetery.
Plasco Trade Center, the 17-storey building, collapsed on January 19, while a number of firefighters were inside the building to rescue those trapped in the huge fire.
Plasco, built in 1962, was the first high-rise building in the Iranian capital.
