Professor Walter Stuhmer to treat Iran's disabled war veterans

Iraj Arabi said that inviting prominent specialist physicians from all over the world to come to Iran was a part of the ongoing programs of the Health Department of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs Foundation which was based on the organization’s policies and strategies.

“Professor Walter Stumher, neurosurgeon from Germany will come to Iran to treat the disabled veterans and the martyrs’ family members in early July”, he said.

Arabi also added that Professor Hassan Mahdian, a specialit in Spine surgery from Britain, came to Iran earlier in April for the same purpose.

Last year a similar program to treat the Iranian disable veterans with the help of the physicians residing abroad was conducted. In the program, some prominent specialists in different fields of medicine travelled to Iran and dozens of surgeries were performed by them. Prefessor Stumher performed 6 surgeries and visited 24 clients under the program last year.

In Iran there are 233,267 disabled veterans with lower than 25% disability, 233,267 with over 25% disability, 25,481 with 50-69% disability, and 9,688 with over 70% disability, according to Iran’s Mrtyrs and Veterans Affairs Foundation.
