President Rouhani urges protecting environment

President Rouhani who, on the occasion of the national tree planting day on Sunday, planted a sapling at one of the gardens of the Saadabad historical and cultural complex, said that national tree day should not be observed solely on March 5 each year.

Planting a tree on this day is going to remind us of the need for taking constant care of the environment and the flora, President Rouhani said.

“We should review the way we protect our environment,” he added.

“Today we are living under conditions that our lives or deaths are highly related to the environmental issues,” he said.

“If the environment proves to be problematic, the public health, social and even security issues will come under threat,” the President said.

Rouhani said that we should refrain from putting the environment under too much pressure.

Technology, appropriate management and productivity are the only solutions, if we are going to lessen pressure on our water, earth and atmospheric resources, he said.
