Nearly 2.5m passengers enter Khorasan Razavi Prov on Norouz eve

Mehdi Forouzan, spokesman for the passengers’ service office in this province, told IRNA that destination of over 1.5 million of those travelers has been the Imam Reza (AS) shrine.

Imam Reza (AS) is the eighth Imam of Shia Muslims. Annually, millions of people from in an out of the country visit the holy city of Mashad on a pilgrimage to the shrine.

It is predicted that Khorasan Razavi province would host 11 million passengers in Norouz holidays, eight million of which would go on pilgrimage.

During last Norouz, eight million travelers visited here.

Norouz, the New Day festival, marks the beginning of spring in the ancient Iranian tradition.
