Minister: Iran ready to develop judicial, legal ties with Iraq

Avaei, who is in Geneva, to attend the 37th meeting of the UN Human Rights Council, met with his Iraqi counterpart Haidar al-Zamili on the sidelines of the meeting.

He pointed to trade exchange level between the two countries and underlined the necessity to create mechanism to solve legal problems of businessmen.

Avaei expressed pleasure for victory of the Iraqi government and people on terrorism and cleansing Iraq from Daesh and underlined joint strategic cooperation between the two countries in all fields.

He also invited his Iraqi counterpart to pay a visit to Iran in near future, which was welcomed by Iraqi Justice Minister.

In the meeting, al-Zamili explained Iraq Justice Ministry situation and its position in the Constitution and added that the Islamic Punishment Law is upon Islamic law.

The Iraqi government and nation will never forget Iran's evident role in defeating Daesh.

He added that Iraq think about strengthening ties with Iran in all fields and agreement on extraditing of convicts is not enough in the field of legal and judicial.

Al-Zamili also invited his Iranian counterpart to pay a visit to Iraq.

The 37th meeting of the UN Human Rights Council kicked off on February 27, 2018.

In the first 3-day senior officials, heads or ministers explain their country's stances on national, regional and international dimensions of human rights.
