Minister: Cultural affinities bolster relations among nations

Salehi Amiri made the remarks in a meeting with Algerian Minister of Culture Azzedin Maihoubi on Monday night in Algiers.

'Iran attaches importance to broadening relations and cooperation with Algeria among Arab countries,' he said.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is to spare no efforts to broaden cooperation with Algeria in all fields, the minister said.

Iran is ready to cooperate in various cultural fields such as launching of joint films, conduct of training courses for cinematic people, setting up exhibitions as well as music, theater, visual arts and tourism, Salehi Amiri said.

Iran is also ready to expand cooperation in other fields such as protecting manuscripts and historical documents, books and literature, he said.

Exchange of dialogue among the two sides elites can help bring the two nations much closer, Amiri said.

“I propose to set up an international gathering to expand cooperation between Iran and Algeria in the presence of intellectuals from Muslim world Muslim,” he said.

On expansion of Quran activities, he said that the two countries should broaden cooperation as the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution has called to bring up some 10 million Quran reciters.

The Iranian minister invited Algerian cultural figures and companies to play active role in the upcoming Tehran International Book Fair.

On the first leg of his regional tour, Iran's minister of culture and Islamic guidance visits Algeria and then Tunisia to sign cultural and artistic MoUs in various fields such as cinematic affairs.

During his stay, he will confer with the countries' top officials on issues of mutual interests and broadening relations and cooperation.
