Major ELT conference ends in Tehran

The day-long conference which was held at the ATU Faculty of Persian Language and Foreign Languages wrapped up on Wednesday with a fresh look to the ELT.

The event was participated by a large number of domestic and international ELT dignitaries such as Canadian Victoria University Professor Hossein Nasaji and other distinguished professors from leading Iranian universities including Tehran University, Shahid Beheshti, Shiraz and the Research and Science Faculty of the Islamic Azad University.

It served as a platform bringing together the brightest and most prolific scholars of English language and literature of Iran in order to make as great a contribution as possible to the studies and research in the fields of English language teaching, as well as English linguistics and literature.

Major topics discussed in the conference included, Language Teaching Methodology, Teacher Education, Teaching Skills/Sub-Skills, Second Language Research, Literature and Language Teaching.

Inter-language Pragmatics, Cross-Cultural Issues in ELT, Intercultural Competence and ELT, Discourse Analysis and Language Teaching, Teaching English to Young Learners, Ethics in ELT, ESP/EAP, and Future Directions in ELT were among other key issues reviewed by the participants of the event.

Three ELT workshops were also held on the sidelines of the gathering.

Previous ELT conference at ATU revolved around the theme of Novel Trends and Perspectives.
