Italian-Iranian musicians to perform symphony of peace, brotherhood

“The Roads of Friendship” came to existence since 1997 with the slogan of ‘peace and brotherhood’ and is conducted by Maestro Riccardo Muti.

It will be performed with the Orchestra composed partly by the Cherubini Youth Orchestra and other Italian musicians representing different Italian Orchestras and partly by the Tehran Symphony Orchestra.

“On the XX anniversary of ‘The Roads of Friendship’ project, the XXVIII edition of the Ravenna Festival once again looks East, and reaches ancient Persia,” said a report recently appeared on the Ravvena festival official website.

It added, “Italian and Iranian artists will perform together in Tehran (July 6) and Ravenna (July 8), in the same spirit of brotherhood that has breathed life into the ‘Paths of Friendship’ program since 1997, in worldwide locations that are symbolic of ancient and contemporary history”.

'The project for a double concert in Tehran and Ravenna comes less than two years after the rebirth of the Teheran Symphony Orchestra and Choir, whose eight-decade history has accompanied the events of the Country.'

“In Muti’s own words: “Better than economy, better than politics, better than verbal languages, music can provide direct communication, tugging at the heartstrings with no need for mediation. And this leads to the concerts of the ‘Paths of Friendship’ program, to the heart of their very reason for being.” This spirit of brotherhood has been at the heart of the project since the first historical concert in Sarajevo, the first of many highly symbolical places,” said the Ravvena festival report.

In line with the spirit of brotherhood that animates these concerts, and in the name of the universality of music, these orchestras and choirs have regularly welcomed some local musicians and given life to unforgettable events in such symbolic sites of ancient and contemporary history as, Beirut, Moscow, Yerevan, Istanbul, New York, Cairo, Nairobi, Tokyo etc.

Regarding this, Iran which is one of the most important countries with ancient civilizations, has been selected to run twentieth 'The Road of Friendship' program.
