Islamic world mayors visit Ferdowsi's tomb

Head of Foreign Relations Department of Mashad Municipality Hassan Kashiri said the mayors were traveling to Mashad to participate in the Summit of Mayors of the Islamic World.

The summit, beginning in Mashad on Tuesday evening, would be a great opportunity to introducing the holly city as the Cultural capital of Islamic world in 2017, and its historical and tourist capacities to other members of the community.

Indonesia’s Potra Ajaya mayor Hashim Ismail said upon visiting Ferdowsi tomb that convergence and promoting knowledge in the Islamic countries were necessary, and the solidarity among them should be increasingly strengthened.

Describing the Mashad summit as a turning point in bilateral ties of Islamic cities, he urged using modern technologies to facilitate Muslim states' information sharing.

The Summit of Mayors of the Islamic World is underway in the metropolitan city of Mashad from April 25-27.
