
Talking to IRNA on Wednesday, al-Hajri said Mashhad needs no introduction and all Muslims are aware of unique characteristics of
the city.
She further noted that the main aim behind selection of cultural capitals from among the Muslim cities is to build a suitable ambience for strengthening culture and nurture cultural talents in the fields of history and civilization.
The ISESCO mainly focuses on culture and unrests and disputes would hopefully reach their minimum levels through cultural activities, she said.
When the nations come closer to each other culturally, the enemies will never be able to deal minimum blow to them, Al-Hajir said.
The ISESCO was founded by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in May 1979. With 52 member states, the ISESCO is one of the largest international Islamic organizations and specializes in the fields of education, science, and culture. Its headquarters are in Rabat, Morocco.
