According to IRNA on Friday, Iranians living in the country including the university students in New Delhi, Banglore, Chennai, Pune and held ceremonies to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (AS).
In Mumbai too, a special ceremony was held on sad occasion in an Imambara run by people descended from Iran's city of Shushtari.
The ceremony was attended by large number of Iranians residing in Mumbai..
According to the public relations office of Iran’s cultural representative in the city, the ceremony was held with the presence of the head of the consulate, Cultural representative of Iran and their staff, IRNA said.
Hujjat-o-Islam Najafi the speaker of the ceremony, spoke about the courage and sacrifices of Imam Hussein and his companions in the fight against blasphemy and injustice.
He said Imam Hussein (AS) was the son of Imam Ali who is famous for his zeal and cournage.
Referring to the bravery and courage of the youth, who accompanied Imam Hussein(AS) in the epic of Karbala, he added that Hazrat Ali Akbar (AS), was the first person from Bani Hashem who went to the battlefield. He was the oldest son of Imam Hussain and the closest person to him. When he sees his father's loneliness among those brutals, he sacrifices himself in the idealistic way, said Najafi, adding that Ali akbar's bravery strengthened enthusiasm of the imam hussain's companions for martyrdom.
After the speeches, a maddah from Iran sang in mourning of Muharram and Karbala.
In addition, in the streets and neighborhoods, leading to the Iranian mosque as well as the Shiite districts of the Bombay metropolitan and the suburbs, the lovers of Ahl al-Bayt give vows in the form dishes and distribute in among the mourners.
