Iranian film ‘Children of Heaven’ to be screened in Pakistan

'Mandwa Film Club' is organizing the film screening at 'Pakistan National Institute for Folk and Traditional Heritage' (Lok Virsa) Library in Islamabad.

Talking to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA) Film Club Coordinator Aijaz Gul said that Iranian cinema has been one of the main enthralling and appealing cinema industry in the world and has gained special status among the world’s cinema industry with its unique and innovative film directing techniques.

He said that Iranian films are regularly shown in different Pakistani cities in which people show keen interest.

Aijaz Gul said that ‘Children of Heaven’ is one of my favorite Iranian films. He said that the film written and directed by Majid Majidi deals with brother and sister and their adventures over a lost pair of shoes.

He said that we are organizing the screening of the film at Lok Virsa second time on the request of our members.

Expressing his views, the member of International Federation of Film Critics said that Iran is the only country in the world that has dedicated itself to children cinemas and this is very encouraging to see.

Gul added that Majid Majidi is a true professional director who knows how to produce quality films. He added that Iranian cinema is very close to reality.

‘Children of Heaven’ premiered in February 1997 at the Tehran Fajr Film Festival and was awarded several national film awards. It was also nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 1998.
