Mandwa Film Club' organized the film screening at 'Pakistan National Institute for Folk and Traditional Heritage' (Lok Virsa) media center in Islamabad.
Talking to IRNA, Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA) Film Club Coordinator Aijaz Gul said a good number of people of different age groups watched the movie with great interest.
He said the audience appreciated the quality of the movie adding that the movie was screened at Lok Virsa two times.
He said that the Iranian cinema has been one of the main enthralling and appealing cinema industry in the world and has gained special status among the world’s cinema industry with its unique and innovative film directing techniques.
Gul added that Majid Majidi is a true professional director who knows how to produce quality films. He added that Iranian cinema is very close to reality.
Premiered in 2001, 'Baran”is set during recent times in which there are a large number of Afghan Refugees living on the outskirts of Tehran.
The film won a number of both national and international awards for its director and writer Majid Majidi.
Baran is the story of Afghan refugees told through the eyes of an Iranian teenage boy named Lateef. His devotion to a person he barely knows leads him to the choice that will change his life forever.
Earlier another master piece of Majid Majidi ‘Children of Heaven’ or Bacheha-Ye Aseman (the original title in Persian) was also screened at Lok Virsa media center.
The film is about a boy who loses his sister’s pair of shoes, and goes on a series of adventures in order to find them. When he fails, he tries a new way to “win” a new pair for his sister in a a school competition.
