Azeri official congratulates Iranian correspondents on Reporter’s Day

National Reporter's Day is annually marked in Iran on the 16th day of the fifth month of the Iranian calendar (Mordad) which is the anniversary of killing of the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) correspondent Mahmoud Saremi by Taliban in northern Afghan city of Mazar-i-Sharif in 1998.

Reporters are like 'friendship bridge' among nations, Hikmet Hajiyev told IRNA in Baku.

In his remarks, Hajiyev appreciated IRNA and other Iranian media for their active role in Azerbaijan to promote friendship between Tehran and Baku.

He further said four Azeri media offices are active in Iran.

The Azeri official stressed the importance of making joint efforts to exchange more information between the two countries.

He added peoples of Azerbaijan and Iran should become more familiar with each other and this will be achieved through exchange of information.

He concluded his remarks by calling on professional and state media across the world to publish correct information about different events.
