Iran, Russia keen on boosting media cooperation

Deputy Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Soltanifar complained that the two countries’ media cooperation has not kept pace with their political ties, hoping that mutual efforts will help improve collaboration in the field of media.

Describing the meeting as a basis for boosting constructive interaction between the two countries’ media, he pointed out that the two countries shared numerous common economic, cultural and political interests which can serve as a base for enhancing media collaboration.

Referring to high capacities of Iranian media outlets, he underlined the need for reinforcing media diplomacy as the most important section of cultural diplomacy, as it will help raise public awareness.

Deputy Minister of Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation Volin Alexei Konstantinovich also told the meeting that some 20 topics have been determined for media cooperation between Tehran and Moscow and both sides are weighing grounds for fulfilling each of them.

Exchanging news, exchanging technical and media technologies and promoting professional level of reporters are among the issues agreed upon by the two sides to enhance media cooperation between the two countries, he said.
