Iran plants center, Lebanese University to produce Lily varieties

“The agreement aims at discovering and producing more than 30 cultivated varieties (cultivar) of Oriental Lily (Lilium Hybrid) based on various categories, including colour and size, among other criteria,” Mohammad Reza Shafeei, head of the Ornamental Plants Research Center told IRNA on Wednesday.

The agreement comes after the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Iranian center and the Lebanese University in summer that 'will pave the way for further cooperation,' he added.

The research will be based on the post-doctoral thesis of a student at the Lebanese University, titled 'the construction of parent population of lily cultivars to identify dominant varieties based on bulbs quality.'
