Iran offers condolences over Italian Iranologist's death

Gian Roberto Scarcia, the professor and founder of Persian language and literature courses at the University of Venice, was the author of over 170 books and articles, mostly on Islam and Iranian language, history, culture, scholars and poets.

Bahram Qasemi expressed condolences over the death of the Italian scholar to his family, friends and all Iranologists all over the world.

Scarcia translated a selection of poems of some Iranian, Afghan and Tajik poets to Italian.

He also taught Italian language and literature at the University of Tehran from 1956 to 1957.
