Iran, Norway mull over environmental ties

Iran's Ambassador to Norway Mohammad Hassan Habibollahzadeh and Norwegian Minister of Climate and the Environment Vidar Helgesen discussed ways to enhance environmental relations between Tehran and Oslo both on bilateral and international levels.

Helgesen said that as energy-rich countries, Iran and Norway can share their experiences to decrease the pollution caused by oil and natural gas activities and cooperate on cutting down the level of carbon dioxide emissions as well.

The Iranian envoy, for his part, said that the climate issues tend to have global and transnational dimensions.

Habibollahzadeh expressed Iran’s readiness to engage in joint scientific research projects with environmental institutes in Norway.
