Iran, Iraq examine extensive cultural cooperation

Addressing a joint press conference, Rawanduzi said due to the abundant historical and cultural commonalties, the two countries' relations are strategic even in tourism sector as is evidenced by Arbaeen huge gathering.

He said the two sides had in their talks unveiled ample grounds for promotion of mutual cultural cooperation and formed a joint committee to have practical plan.

Rawanduzi added that cinema, theatre, visual arts, book and publication, social networks and formation of a joint think thank are among highlights of understanding between the two sides to draw strategic framework for cooperation.

He went on to say that the two sides agreed on cooperation in tourism and support for international registration of historical sites.

The Iranian minister, for his part, congratulated the audience on the recent victories of Iraqi nation and government over Daesh and Takfiris thanks to support of top clergies in Iraq. He lauded experience of democracy in Iraq on the eve of parliamentary elections in the country and said undoubtedly such a valuable experience can be instructive to the regional nations.

He expressed hoped that meetings and talks of the two sides' officials in the fields of culture will serve as a turning-point for expansion of mutual cooperation in many cultural, social and tourism areas.
