Iran Health Minister arrives in Geneva

Dr. Hassan Qazizadeh Hashemi was welcomed by Iran’s permanent envoy to the UN headquarters in Geneva Mohsen Naziri.

The minister, who is expected to address the assembly, emphasizing the importance of choosing the World Health Organization Secretary General, told IRNA that the new authority's performance would affect the public health conditions in the world.

He also added that Iran would preside an important session of the assembly on sustainable development, attended by all the member-states.

Qazizadeh is also supposed to meet his counterparts from other countries and hold talks on mutual ties and cooperation expansion.

Delegations from 194 countries are present at the WHA.

The body, composed of the Health Ministers of the member-states, is the highest health policymaker in the world.
