Iran, Germany to co-op in preserving Tabriz cultural heritage

Speaking in the opening ceremony of the 1st Irano-German International Symposium on Archaeometry, Morteza Abdar told IRNA that Tabriz cultural heritage is both nationally and internationally valuable.

Due to its various potentials, Tabriz was selected by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) as the tourism capital of the Islamic world in 2018, he added.

He said that regarding the academic infrastructure of Tabriz Islamic Art University, it turned out to be Iran's archeometry hub and it is regarded as one of the most important centers in protection of cultural heritage and as a partner it takes part in academic activities with East Azarbaijan Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism office.

The 1st Irano-German International Symposium on Archaeometry is underway in Tabriz Islamic Art University until November 4.
