Iran Foreign Ministry to issue free visa for Iraqi nationals

In his letter to Iranian Foreign Ministry, First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri let the ministry to exempt Iraqi nationals from visa charges.

Earlier on March 27, the Iraqi Council of Ministers passed a bill to lift visa charges for Iranians.

During his recent visit to Iraq, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in a joint statement declared the final agreement to start lifting visa charges for Iraqi nationals from April 1.

Rouhani’s visit to Iraq took place upon the official invitation of his counterpart Barham Salih and also Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi.

Meanwhile, Iran Envoy to Baghdad Iraj Masjedi told IRNA that the necessary measures will be taken on the due date for Iraqi nationals in Iran diplomatic missions.

Iranian diplomatic mission in Iraq earlier in a statement announced that all Iranian consulates general in Iraq will issue free visa for Iraqi citizens from April 1.

In the meantime, Iranian Consulate General in Sulaymaniyah announced that the Iraqi Kurdistan Region has underlined its commitment to Baghdad decision to lift charges on visa for Iranian nationals.

Over seven million pilgrims and passengers are exchanged between Iran and Iraq annually.
