Iran calls for expansion of cultural, media ties with China

The two countries can interact very well in the area of culture, said Mohammad Jafar Safi who is visiting china to explore ways for Tehran-Beijing development of cultural relations.

He also called for expansion of cultural, media and cinematic cooperation between the two nations.

Iran's cinema industry is quite well-known across the world and in the past years two Oscars have gone to Iranian films and there is no doubt that the two sides can further deepen such cultural cooperation, he said.

'Media plays a significant role in reflecting realities in the world,' he said, adding that the Western mainstream media fail to highlight our cultural achievements and they solely seek to magnify negative aspects,' the Iranian cultural official said.

'We should revive more our media to show positive aspects of the two nations,' Safi said.

'The media, both in Iran and China, can play an important role in promoting cultural goals,' he said.
