Iran-Azerbaijan customs offices work 24 hours a day:Official

Hossein Kakhaki, head of international cooperation office at Iran's Customs Administration, made the remarks in a meeting with Azerbaijan's customs officials on Friday.

He said that customs offices of Bileh Savar, Astara and Jolfa are working on a 24-hour schedule.

Head of Performance Monitoring and Development Programs of Azerbaijan Customs Committee said, Iran's exports to Azerbaijan rose to 240 million dollars in 2016 from 90 million dollars in the previous year.

'The growth has been the result of cooperation between the two countries,' he said.

Given that electronic systems are being used in the customs offices of the two countries, data exchange and the transactions have been accelerated and the smuggling of goods decreased to the lowest possible level.

Referring to cultural commonalities between the two countries, he called for enhancement of tourism relations between the two countries.

The agreement on launching the round-the-clock customs clearance services in Bileh Savar was signed by Iranian and Azeri officials on Thursday.
