Iran announces Monday start of Eid al-Fitr

The Leader's office in a statement, declared that based on reports received from groups in charge of monitoring the appearance of new moon’s crescent in various parts of the country, it was approved for Ayatollah Khamenei that Monday will be the first day of Shawwal.

According to the statement, Eid al-Fitr prayers will be held by the Leader at 8:00 am in Imam Khomeini Mosalla in Tehran.

Fitr festivities or Eid al-Fitr, also known as the fast breaking festival, is an important religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide.
