Int'l institute offers helping hand to Iran on quake disaster

Head of the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) in a letter sympathized with the Iranians affected by the recent earthquake in western Iran and said that the association is ready to cooperate in the relief and rescue operation.

SCCM, established in 1970, is an independently incorporated, international, educational and scientific society based in the US.

'I am reaching out to you as you assess the impact of yesterday's earthquake in the Iran and Iraq region and strive to provide care for the critically ill and injured,' the letter reads, referring to the vast areas and the main hospital in Sarpol-e Zahab damaged severely.

some 430 people were killed and 7,460 were injured as the result of a 7.3 magnitude earthquake which jolted western Iran on Sunday evening.
