Chabahar 4.9-magnitude quake causes no damage

Director General of provincial Governorate General Crisis Management Reza Arbabi told IRNA on Friday that the quake occurred at a distance of 320 km to Chabahar earlier on Friday morning at a depth of 10 km of the Sea of Oman.

According to Seismological Center affiliated to Tehran University’s Geophysics Institute, the tremor occurred at 1:57 hour local time (21:33 GMT Thursday night) and its epicenter was registered at 22.45 degrees latitude and 61.12 degrees longitude.

Chabahar is situated on the Makran Coast of the Sistan and Baluchestan province and is officially designated as a Free Trade and Industrial Zone by the Iranian government. Due to its free trade zone status, the city has increased in significance in international trade.
