Buried clay tablets discovered in western Iran

The Public Relations Office of the Research Institute of Cultural Heritage and Tourism (RICHT) quoted head of the archeology team Javad Alaei Moqaddam as saying in this part of the exploration which was conducted in Arak and some parts of Ashtian in the Markazi Province over 500 works were identified and registered.

The archeology team encountered a variety of archaeological works, including the hills, expanded areas, abundant and varied petroglyph and several Islamic inscriptions, temple, market, caravanserai, castle, mosque, water reservoir, bathroom, hundred-plus water canal, historical homes, residential cave, fire tower, historic mines, graves, holy shrine, historic and Islamic cemetery, etc, he said.

The archaeologist noted that the discovered areas discovered embody a time period of 7,000 years from the copper-stone up to the Qajar era and it is possible that by drilling in some of the larger areas more ancient periods will be identified.
