Azerbaijan dispatches aid for Iran flood survivors

“The humanitarian aid, worth some $ 600,000, has been sent to Iran at the orders of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev,” Deputy Emergency Situations Minister Faig Taghizadeh told reporters in Baku on Wednesday as the supplies were ready to be shipped to Iran.

The aid includes 166 kitchenware, 3,000 sets of mattress and blanket, 75 tents, 150 water pumps, 5 inflatable boats, 140 work uniforms, 32 relief and rescue uniforms, 200 rescue vests as well as two excavation machines.

Several regional countries, such as Turkey, Russia and Kuwait as well as a few European states have sent in in-kind assistance to be received by the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) in the flood-hit regions.

Some 70 people have been killed as a result of the deadly floods that have left hundreds of thousands homeless.
