Abadan church bell tolls for Easter

The citizens of Abadan attended Surp Karap (Saint Karapet) Church to commemorate Easter festivity accompanied with the lonely Christian citizen of town.

In the ceremony the bell of the church was tolled.

Next to the church located Mussa bin Jaafar Mosque and the presence of Abadan citizens in the church with the sole Christian citizens to commemorate the festivity was a real symbol of reciprocal respect between followers of divine religions and the most beautiful sign for dialogue among civilizations.

The Easter Day is a Sunday either in March or April.

This is the resurrection Sunday of Jesus Christ from the dead, which happened three days after crucifixion of the Christ.
Surp Karap Church was built in 1940 and damaged during imposed war of Iraq against Iran; it was renovated in 1991 and registered as national work.
