500 Persian manuscripts in Budapest library: Hungarian official

Speaking on the sidelines of the 31st Tehran International Book Fair on Friday, Eva Rubovszky told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Friday that the number of Persian manuscripts being kept in the library is much more than the number of manuscripts the country's national library.

She said that some manuscripts related to Turkey and Arab countries are also being kept in Budapest library.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed by the library of Iran's Foreign Ministry and Hungary Academy in this regard , she said.

Commenting on Iran's role in establishing peace and stability, the Hungarian official said, 'Iran is a big, powerful country that can exert much influence on all parts of the world.'

Rubovszky also referred to launching Iran-Hungary friendship association 32 years ago as an evidence of good cultural relations.

Tehran International Book Fair, spanning an area of 130,000 square meters, was opened to public on May 2 and will run until May 12. Beside Iranian publishers, 132 publishers from different countries, including Germany, China, Italy, Oman, Hungary, Austria, Russia and Iraq, are presenting their books in the fair.

Serbia is the guest country and Tunis (the capital city of Tunisia) is the guest city of the Tehran International Book Fair.
