US resumes deadly drone strikes on NW Pakistan

Reports quoting local security officials say that the strike had happened in the Lawara Mandi area of North Waziristan, a remote tribal region bordering Afghanistan.

Local intelligence officials said drones had been seen in the area before two missiles hit a house believed to be used by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

The air strike is the second drone attack inside Pakistan since US President Donald Trump took office in January.
The US had almost suspended its deadly drone attacks on Pakistan since 2015.

The use of drones has proven extremely controversial with the Pakistani public and rights groups over human rights and sovereignty concerns.

The US claims the airstrikes target members of terrorist groups, but experts and analysts claim that over 80 percent of victims are civilians and innocent residents of the tribal areas of Pakistan.
