Deputy FM confers with Finish counterpart

Takht-e Ravanchi is currently on an official visit to Helsinki at the invitation of Finnish Deputy Foreign Minister Peter Stenlund for political talks with the country’s officials.

The Finnish official expressed satisfaction over his country's president Tehran visit last year when several cooperation deals were signed and ways for all-out collaboration, especially economic cooperation were explored, saying that the two countries bilateral ties have grown stronger over the recent years.

Referring to exchange of delegations in various levels between the two countries, he further pointed out that a memorandum of understanding on customs cooperation was recently signed and another on aerial transport will be inked soon.

The Finish official also said that his country’s businessmen are determined to cooperate with Iran.

Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) is a multilateral pact which should be honored by all parties, he said, noting that European officials have shown their willingness to uphold and fully implement the deal and Helsinki supports development of cooperation between Iran and the European Union.

Takht-e Ravanchi, for his part, stressed the need for regular consultations over bilateral, regional and international issues, saying that Finnish president’s visit to Iran was successful and brought positive results.

Iran attaches great significance to parliamentary interaction and people-to-people relations which help facilitate and accelerate cooperation, particularly economic collaboration, said the Iranian diplomat.

During the meeting, both officials focused on the latest developments in the region and situations in Syria, Iraq, Yemen and Afghanistan, calling for finding diplomatic settlement and shunning unilateral moves.
