Velayati: Iran supports Iraq's territorial integrity

Velayati made the remarks in a meeting with the visiting Iraqi Secretary General of the Kurdistan Islamic Union Salaheddine Bahaaeddin in Tehran on Wednesday.

Dividing Iraq to three parts of Sunni, Shia and Kurds is against the policies of Iraqi nation and government, he said, adding that Iraq has overcome terrorists.

'Salaheddine Bahaaeddin, played a very active role in fight with despotism and backed Islamic unity and integrity,' Velayati said.

The two sides exchanged views on the future of Iraq and the supports made by the Islamic Republic of Iran from Iraq’s integrity.

“We do advise countries in the region to avoid meddling in Iraq’s affairs and let the Iraqi nation away from interference of foreigners and unity among it’s people and officials to continue its path,” Velayati said.

They also discussed various issues as discords, disintegration and existing prejudices and the need to find a remedy to this problem.
