'The baseless accusations by Aboul Gheit Secretary General of the Arab League tend to be the same old uncalculated accusations brought against Iran in the past, Bahram Qasemi said on Wednesday.
Qasemi referred to the dire conditins of Syrian people and said that the ongoing crisis in Syria is the result of foreign interference in this country.
Certain states are training and equipping terrorists against the legitimate government of Syria under the name of fighting terrorism, he said.
The Iranian official while hailing the Arab League secretary general's stance on the Shia and Sunni issues, advised Aboul Gheit to avoid repeating the previous unconstructive and unrealistic stances and urged him to try to find instead a resolution for the complicated regional problems.
'Iran expects the Arab League secretary general to foster regional convergence and help resolution of regional problem,' Qasemi said.
The foreign ministry spokesman underlined that the Arab League secretary general should respect Syrian people's right for determining their destiny and that he should respect the county's sovereignty.
