Philippines – Iran can expand cooperation on nano-, bio- tech

"Public promotion of nanotechnology is one of the unique characteristics of the nanotechnology development program in Iran in comparison with other countries and  Significant attention to public education of nanotechnology, especially at the school level, is clearly observed in Iran," Brenda L. Nazareth-Manzano" said in an exclusive interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

"Iran is pioneering in scientific growth among the world states and has had the fastest scientific growth in the world, which has been 11 times higher than the average global rate,"  she added.

Nazareth-Manzano said that Iran ranks first in the region and 16th in the world in the production of science and stands among the top 11 world states in satellite-launch technology and ranks 8th in the world in putting into orbit the satellites.

Undersecretary for Regional Operations, Department of science and technology Republic of the Philippines said that "we as experts and entrepreneurs are ready to share our experiences with Iran and we are so eager to expand our cooperation in this field.

Asia Pacific Innovation Forum (APIF) kicked off in Tehran on Tuesday with 70 participants representing countries and international organizations from around the world.

At the beginning of the opening ceremony, Peyman Salehi, chairman of the first APIF said, "the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) considers science and technology as the main index of sustainable development, and the startups as the building blocks of modern technology and the sustainable development."
