'Daily Times' in its editorial comments said it is not clear what the Trump administration would achieve by giving FTO status to IRGC.
It added that blacklisting the IRGC would only destabilize the region further, creating the potential for clashes with US forces in the Middle East.
It noted that Tehran has already vowed that it will make a crushing response against the US if it goes ahead with the designation.
The paper said two years ago, an IRGC commander had warned that if the Trump administration went ahead with any such move, the Revolutionary Guards would equate the US Army to terrorists in the field.
'Daily Times' said Washington must abandon all moves against the IRGC. “The Trump administration has already made too many one-sided moves in the Middle East, including pulling out of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, which undid years of productive diplomacy. It is high time this irresponsible escalation came to an end,” said the editorial.
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in a message has warned US President Donald Trump against facing another disaster.
“Netanyahu firsters who have long agitated for FTO designation of the IRGC fully understand its consequences for the US forces in the region. In fact, they seek to drag the US into a quagmire on his behalf,' Mohammad Javad Zarif tweeted on Sunday.
