
Abdul-Mahdi made the remarks Monday in a meeting with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi.
He called for reinforcing both countries' relations in political and economic fields.
According to Iraqi Prime Minister office, during the meeting both sides discussed details of the upcoming trip by Iran President Hassan Rouhani to Iraq.
Meanwhile, Iranian diplomat and the Iraqi Prime Minister reviewed ways to promote cooperation in economic, visa fields and bilateral issues as well.
They also underlined the importance of signing an MoU in line with both countries' interests.
Abdul-Mahdi hailed reinforcement of relations between two countries and extended hope for the mutual meetings to be a turning point in developing bilateral relations.
In the meantime, Araqchi expressed hope for the Rouhani's upcoming trip to bring about development in economic ties.
Earlier during his trip to Iraq, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif suggested creating some joint industrial districts with Iraq and it was hailed by Iraqi officials.
