Enemies trying to harm Iran-Georgia ties: Ambassador

'The existing problems are partly caused by enemies of Iran-Georgia relations; the one benefiting from such behaviors is neither the nations of Iran and Georgia nor governments of the two countries,' said Iran Ambassador to Georgia Javad Ghavam Shahidi in a press conference in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi on Wednesday.

“We and our friends must be vigilant not to allow the third parties to destruct the relations,” said Ghavam Shahidi.

He added that the positive cultural atmosphere governing the two countries had provided Iranian tourists with great capacity to visit Georgia, but recent events caused difficulties for them.

Iranian embassy has held talks with Georgian high-level officials regarding the issue and spares no effort in following the case. All the parliamentary and diplomatic capacities will be exploited, he stressed.

Answering another question about the Georgian media’s claims on drug smuggling of Iranians, Ghavam Shahidi said despite international regulations, Georgian government has announced no further information to Iran and has prevented Iranians from entering there since then.
