Light quake jolts southern Iran

According to the Seismological Center of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the tremor occurred at 3:44 hours local time (0:04 GMT) in an area located at 27.01 degrees latitude and 57.56 degrees longitude and in the depth of 13 km underground.

No report on possible damage to life or properties has been released yet.

Iran sits on major seismological fault lines, making it one of the world's most quake-prone countries.
