Iran MP calls for EU practical steps to save JCPOA

The Europe should take practical steps and carry out firm actions and do not suffice with mere mottos, Head of Iranian Parliament Research Center (IPRC) Kazem Jalali noted in a meeting with Geert Bourgeois, the minister-president of Flanders region in Belgium.

He said that only if the EU takes practical steps, Islamic Republic's presence in the nuclear deal will be rational.

The official pointed to the US withdrawal form the nuclear deal and noted that this move proved the fact that Washington cannot be trusted.

During the meeting, the minister-president of Flanders region, for his part, voiced support for Iran's nuclear deal.

He urged the EU countries to do their best to save the nuclear deal with Iran, noting that the European companies have been harmed by the US move.

US President Donald Trump mounted pressure on Iran and on May 8 by announcing that Washington would withdraw from Iran's nuclear deal and re-impose nuclear-related sanctions on the country.

This is while most world powers, including Russia, China, and the European Union, have repeatedly stressed that keeping the deal is in the interest of the world peace and security.
