Iran targets $30b trade with Turkey

Taherian-Fard made the remarks in a meeting with members of Izmir Chamber of Commerce.

The ambassador said Iran and Turkey have 600 kilometers of common borders and three official customs gates, which should be used to increase trade exchanges.

Currently trade exchange volume between the two countries is around 12 billion dollars, which could be increased three folded through contribution of their private sectors.

He added that private sector in Turkey is strong and well-experienced and Iran is trying to develop its private sector.

Taherian-Fard said efforts to establish trade by national currencies is reaching to good stages, which will create more facilitation for businessmen of both countries.

Deputy Head of Izmir Chamber of Commerce Jamal Elmas Oglu said Iran has great capacity in tourism and for bilateral trade.

He underlined development of mutual cooperation, especially in the tourism sector.
