Leader advisor: Iran-Russia ties to expand

Talking to reporters after a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday, Ali-Akbar Velayati said he had delivered two messages from Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and President Hassan Rouhani to his host.

He described his meeting with Putin as 'constructive, cordial and clear', adding that issues of mutual interest were discussed during the meeting.

Velayati added that Putin believes that the value of Iran-Russia cooperation in the field of oil could grow up to 50 billion dollars.

He said the Russian companies are keen on making investment in Iran to compensate the exit of some foreign oil companies from the Islamic Republic.

Talking to Putin, Velayati said Iran-Russia relations are 'strategic,' adding that in the past few years, the mutual and regional ties have expanded.

Regional cooperation between collection of the resistance front, led by Iran and Russia, for campaign against terrorism and its founders in Syria and other regional countries, is an exemplary model of Tehran-Moscow cooperation, said Velayati, adding that only strategic and long-term relations can justify such cooperation.

What's more, mutual ties in the fields of defense, politics, economy, security, and nuclear technology are other examples.
