Iran offers condolences over Vatican's cardinal death

Mohammad-Javad Zarif in his message to Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, Vatican's Secretary for Relations with States, expressed his sadness over the death of Cardinal Tauran who was also the head of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue (PCID).

The 74-year old cardinal, who was suffering from Parkinson, passed away on July 5.

The Iranian Foreign Minister in the message, published on Monday, described the late cardinal as one of the science and religion honorable figures who put lots of effort to unite the followers of all divine religions and promoted the interreligious dialogue among them. He also managed to lay the grounds for consistent talks between Islam and Christianity scholars, Zarif said.

FM Zarif also offered condolences to Iranian Christian community.
