
Rasoul Zargarpour made the remarks in the second meeting of the provincial Committee for Developing Exports.
Zargarpour said that the figure showed a decline by three percent in term of weight and 22 percent in value compared to the corresponding period last year.
Major exports included iron cast, iron and steel, oil products, carpets, iron and steel products, dairy products, sugar, confectionary and plastics, he said, noting that Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, UAE, Malaysia, Jordan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, China and Thailand are major importers of the provincial commodities.
Carpets worth two million dollars were exported to 13 countries including the US, Kuwait, UAE and Qatar in the first three months of the Iranian calendar year (started March 21), the official said.
Some 133 kilograms of gold were also exported from Isfahan province to the UAE during the same period, he said, noting that over one tons of handicrafts valued at 40,000 dollars were exported to the UAE and Singapore and other states.
Stressing the need for identifying obstacles in the way of non-oil exports, Zargarpour said that promoting culture of exports and providing incentives should be placed on the agenda.
