Chinese freight train on way of Iran

The move shows that despite recent developments in Iran Deal, that is, US' withdrawal from the deal, China intends to carry on with its trade relations with Iran.

Iran Deal or the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) is an agreement signed between Iran, and G5+1 (UN Security permanent members plus Germany) in January 2015. The US unilaterlly pulled out of it on Tuesday.

The freight train is carrying 1,150 tons of sunflower seeds. The path it is taking is one of the newest transport ways between the two countries. It starts in Bayannur, Inner Mongolia, north China, and finishes in Tehran, the Iranian capital.

Geng Shuang, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman, said China will go on with its normal trade relations with Iran.

He also said that the economic ties between Iran and China are very clear and do not violate any international agreements.

He also said that no country can unilaterally pressure other counties and impose its will on them due to its own domestic laws.

China is the biggest importer from Iran. The 2017 exports of Iran to China rose 25% in comparion with 2016.
