5 Iranians imprisoned in Afghanistan sent back

The transfer was done in Kabul airport according to the agreements between the two countries, said Mohsen Rezaee, adding that Iran is to send back 120 Afghan prisoners to their homeland in the near future.

The judicial agreements between Iran and Afghanistan on exchange of inmates were signed 12 years ago.

Apart from today's transfer, 620 Afghans in Iranian jails and 53 Iranians in Afghan jails have been exchanged. The prisoners have mostly been sentenced due to narcotic-related crimes.
