Iran calls for broadening of ties with Russia

'Tehran and Moscow are stepping in the path of reaching strategic partnership,' Rouhani said in a meeting with Viaceslav Volodin, the chairman of Russia's State Duma.

He described Iran and Russia cooperation in Syria as fruitful, and said that the two countries would continue cooperation till full-scale security in the war-torn region.

The Iranian President stressed the necessity for the elevation of parliamentary ties between Tehran and Moscow.

During the meeting, the Russian official said that his country's parliament supports the two countries' president agreements and decisions.

He said that Russia and Iran are facing similar challenge, adding that Moscow is committed to increase cooperation with Iran.
