Iran trying to bring peace in region: Pak analyst

In an interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), Lieutenant General (Retd) Talat Masood said that the US and other Western countries want Iran to confirm their wishes whereas Iran is not prepared to do that.

He said Iran thinks that here is no reason why America should be in the Middle East and try to influence the area. “I think that is why you find so much of pressure from America and the Western world on Iran,” the analyst viewed.

He added that the US and some Western countries feel that Iran is a powerful country and that is why they are keen to reduce its power by making Muslim countries fight among themselves.

“The Muslim world is divided which is very unfortunate, there is need for unity rather than fighting themselves,” he pointed out.

Talat Masood went on to say one has to find a political solution to the problem of Syria. “Military solution will only impose your will for the short period of time, but once the good conditions are created some sort of political dialogue can be started which is far better,” he said.

The analyst said Saudi Arabia and other Persian Gulf states are pursuing a very narrow angle in the region and trying to dominate the area and that is why you find the conflict among the countries of the region.

“US is fighting in the region to impose its supremacy whereas Iran and other countries like Pakistan are trying to bring peace in the area so that the people can get the fruits of development,” he said.
